The two Main Shaft Seals are responsible for retaining the DCT clutch oil within the needle bearing for both the Odd and Even shafts located in the gearbox housing near the speed sensor. This particular issue is commonly associated with leaks from the rear weep hole situated at the farthest point in the case. The displacement of this seal is often attributed to the DCT bearing creep, where the bearing surpasses the lock ring and displaces the seal. Additionally, regular wear and tear can also contribute to the leakage of this sensor.

It is highly recommended to replace these seals when conducting a speed sensor replacement to prevent any potential leaks. A leaking seal, allowing DCT fluid to enter the gearbox, can result in low DCT clutch oil levels, leading to low pressure sensor faults. To ensure the proper functioning of the bearing, it should be secured in place using the appropriate Loctite retaining compound. If the bearing proves challenging to remove, a seeping Loctite retaining compound should be applied. Conversely, if the bearing can be easily removed, a high viscosity Loctite retaining compound is recommended.
