The Getrag 7DCL750 Axle Bolt Hardware Kit is a purpose built service kit for one of the most commonly damaged fasteners in the 7DCL750 transmission. Because this bolt connects the axle shafts inside the differential, it carries significant stress during every drive cycle. That stress accumulates over time. So when the bolt is removed for service, it must be replaced with a new one. Reusing the old bolt is a failure point that experienced technicians do not accept.

The axle bolt in the Getrag 7DCL750 is a torque-to-yield fastener. This means it stretches slightly when torqued to specification. Because of that, it cannot be reused after removal. The factory applies Loctite to the bolt threads before installation. That Loctite creates a chemical bond that resists loosening under vibration and thermal cycling. When the bolt is removed, that bond is broken. A new bolt with fresh factory Loctite is required for every reinstallation. This kit includes the bolt with Loctite pre-applied so the correct procedure can be followed without sourcing the bolt separately.

This bolt is one of the most commonly broken fasteners in the 7DCL750 service process. The reason is straightforward. The bolt absorbs years of stress from the differential load. Then, when a technician applies removal torque, that stress concentrates at the bolt shank. If the bolt is corroded, overtightened, or simply at the end of its service life, it snaps. When that happens, the broken stud must be extracted from the differential housing before any further work can proceed. That extraction adds significant time and cost to the repair. Having a replacement bolt ready before starting the job is standard practice for any technician who has done this repair before.

The drive on this bolt is an Allen hex socket. Allen sockets are inherently less resistant to rounding than Torx or 12-point drives. When the bolt is seized or corroded, the Allen socket can round out before the bolt breaks free. Once the socket rounds, the bolt becomes extremely difficult to remove without specialized extraction tools. For that reason, we recommend using a high quality impact rated Allen socket and applying penetrating fluid before attempting removal.
