THE SYSTEM LAMBORGHINI CLAIMS YOU DON’T NEED TO MAINTAIN

The Haldex system is used in AWD cars to couple the front differential to the transmission. (the front in all cars?). It’s used in many cars including Audis, VWs, Fords, Lamborghini Aventadors, and even the Bugatti Chiron. Today, though, we’re going to be discussing the Lamborghini Aventador.

I’ve replaced a number of these filters and believe me, they get filthy. They need to be changed out regularly. For cars like the Audi TT RS and the VW Golf R, they recommend a filter replacement every 20,000 miles. This is not the case for Lamborghini Service. As a matter of fact they don’t make any recommendation for the Haldex filter to be replaced as a maintenance item. Obviously that makes no sense. Filters are designed to be replaced. Oil filters, fuel filters, air filters, they all fill up with sediment and require replacement, and Lamborghini has recommended replacement intervals for all these filters. For some reason, though, they do not for the Haldex oil filter. Rather than classifying this as a maintenance item, they classify it as a replacement item, which means it is replaced when it starts to fail, or fails completely.

The major problem with this is that by the time this filter fails, unnecessary wear or even damage to the car has already been done. The fact is, like any other filter, this one needs to be changed regularly. It’s very easy to do and not very expensive. For a car like the Lamborghini Aventador, it should really be done every 10,000 miles if you want to get the most out of the car’s Haldex system.
