Ferrari Shock Spring Perch Sleeve – Hard Anodized Upgrade
The Ferrari Shock Spring Perch Sleeve is a direct replacement for the factory spring perch on Ferrari suspension systems. It replicates the factory perch geometry exactly, so it fits the shock body and seats the spring correctly. The critical difference is the coating. Our sleeve features a hard anodized finish that the factory perch does not have. That coating is what separates a perch that stays adjustable from one that corrodes and locks permanently in place.
The Factory Perch Problem
The factory Ferrari spring perch is bare aluminum. There is no protective coating of any kind. When aluminum contacts another aluminum surface under load and heat cycling, it oxidizes at the contact interface. Over time, that oxidation creates a bond between the perch and the shock body. That bond tightens with every heat cycle. Eventually, the perch becomes impossible to remove without damaging the shock. At that point, ride height adjustment is no longer possible without replacing the entire shock assembly. This is a well documented issue on the Ferrari 458, 488, and related platforms. It is not a matter of if the factory perch locks. It is a matter of when.
The Hard Anodized Solution
Our Ferrari shock spring perch sleeve uses a hard anodized coating on the contact surfaces. Hard anodizing creates a dense aluminum oxide layer that is significantly harder and more corrosion resistant than bare aluminum. Because of that, the sleeve does not bond to the shock body the way the factory perch does. It remains removable and adjustable for years of use. That means ride height adjustments stay accessible throughout the life of the vehicle. When you need to change the spring preload or adjust ride height, the sleeve comes off cleanly. That is the outcome the factory perch cannot provide.
Cleaning and Lubrication Requirements
To maintain the adjustability of this sleeve, clean and lubricate the contact surfaces before assembly and before each adjustment. This step is not optional. Even with the hard anodized coating, allowing the sleeve to run dry over long periods will reduce its adjustability over time. A thin layer of appropriate lubricant on the contact surfaces before assembly ensures the sleeve seats correctly and releases cleanly when adjustment is needed. This is standard practice for any coilover or suspension component that requires periodic adjustment.
Two Variants Available
This sleeve is available in two versions. The first version is for Ferrari models without a suspension lift system. The second version is for Ferrari models equipped with a factory suspension lift system. The lift system variant accommodates the additional hardware associated with the lift mechanism. Select the correct version for your build using the dropdown menu on the product page. If you are unsure which version your vehicle requires, contact us before ordering.
Sold Individually
This sleeve is sold individually. For a complete suspension service, order the quantity needed for your application. Most suspension jobs on the Ferrari 458 and 488 platforms require four sleeves for a full set.
