This aluminum nose cone spacer has been designed to prevent bearing creep in the nose cone of the Ferrari FF and California gearboxes. After several years of production, Getrag recognized that the bearing in the nose cone had a tendency to creep up the input drive shaft. To prevent this issue in more recent models, Getrag slightly modified the front case and developed a polymer nose cone spacer to hold the bearing in place, effectively preventing it from creeping up the shaft. Unfortunately they have not provided a spacer option to repair the issue in older models. The only option thus far has been to replace the whole front case with one from a newer transmission. We’re happy we can now offer a much more affordable solution.
Our nose cone spacer has been made out of aluminum to ensure it never degrades from the caustic fluids in the gearbox which are known to be extremely rough on polymers. It has a similar design to the solution created by Getrag, with minor modifications to allow it to fit into the older front case style.
We recommend this part be installed on all FF models and California models that do not have a bearing creep solution installed either as an independent repair, or as part of the installation of our Full Repair Kit. Installation can be completed without removing the transmission from the car, as only the front input shaft needs to be removed (nose case can remain attached to transmission).
